Each word is chosen randomly and has five equivalent words - hence there is a database of three hundred words, sentences and photographs. The aims of this test is to establish the user's competence level on these spelling skills - long vowel sounds, vowel digraphs and diphthongs, vowels before "r", silent consonants, soft consonant sounds, verb endings and harder plurals. There are facilities for the user to repeat the spoken word or sentence before they type in the word.
